Picked By easyyy , Yesterday at AM. Golf MEZZ. The selected testers will be one of the first to experience the MEZZ. About The L. Golf Mezz. How To Apply In a post below, answer the following questions. City, State? What is your current putter? Are you the type of guy who wanders around the hardware store looking for the prettiest hammer, or do you want a tool that will flat out pound nails?
You want paint…go take a nap. You want performance, read on. The 6 golfers for whom we collected detailed performance data were asked to hit a series of shots on our 3Track Equipped simulators from aboutGolf. Detailed data for each and every shot for which we collected data is now viewable in the interactive portion of this review. This data serves as the foundation for our final performance score. As a supplement to our 6 performance testers, a subset of additional golfers were given the opportunity to test the PING G20 Driver and provide feedback in our subjective categories looks, feel, sound, perceived distance, perceived accuracy, perceived forgiveness, and likelihood of purchase.
This information, which we also collected from our performance testers, is used as the foundation for our total subjective score. Testing was done using a 9. Are you paying attention now? The reality is they were on average The 2nd reason why the subjective numbers are so incomprehensibly off the mark that I damn near checked our launch monitor for damage is that consistency breeds a sort of contempt among golfers constantly looking for more distance. The Ping G20 is one of them.
PING never has and probably never will be known for producing flashy clubs. As I mentioned, one tester was a bit put off by the size, but for the most part nobody else had much to say about it. Finally, at address the face appears to have less bulge and roll than other drivers this is true of the K15 as well.
Though not a single tester commented directly on the feel or sound for that matter , the majority ranked it on the lower end of average. In the case of the G20 they are pretty much are. This is exactly why data matters. Perceptions and subjectivity are nothing more than just that. What invariably happens when our testers under-estimate distance is that they tend to either over-estimate accuracy, or basically nail it. In this case they basically nailed it. Until the USGA decides to allow gyroscopes in driver heads there are always going to be big misses.
All you should realistically hope for in terms of forgiveness is that a driver can maintain a healthy percentage of its distance capabilities when you hit the ball high on the face, or low on the heel, or high on the toe.
Everything else is a pipedream. Of course, once you get past MOI numbers and things like that, forgiveness is basically all subjective anyway how far a golfer thinks he hit the ball, based on where he thinks he hit it. Yeah, looks count, and so do sound and feel, but none of the numbers anywhere as low as LOP score.
Can somebody hand me a can of white paint? Most often the numbers come back low for an average club, but the results of our surveys for the G20, in my opinion anyway, are nothing less than a travesty.
Like most anybody else, sometimes they just get it wrong. Some willingly admit that they value distance above everything else including common sense. The smartest guys place the premium on accuracy, while still others get so wrapped up in labels and paint schemes they forget about getting as far up the fairway as they possibly can.

I have been reading the reveiws and i currently have a callaway alpha in my bag. Thinking of making a trade for a G20 for my alpha. Looking for opinions and advice by guys and gals who have the G Dont know if i should or not i love the alpha but i have a k15 3 wood and i hit that thing perfectly everytime.
I found this G20 at the local golf course here for bucks…should i make the trade or not??? Looking for some deciding factors. I would say pull the trigger on the G In , I decided to take golf up more seriously. I had only played occasionally in charity tournaments or on vacation, playing maybe once a year.
I was in need of a new driver and tested many drivers before going with the Ping G20, 9. I would definitely purchase this club again. Sorry I got here 5 years too late, but I am a firm believer that the G20 is in the top 5 of all cc drivers ever designed and made. Laugh out loud, like the real lol….
The Tisi is longest by 10 yards btw. None of them deliver themselves to the ball so effortlessly and consistently as the G I Iove feeling the ball compress and depart from the clubface of the G20 which makes the follow-through of this driver a thoughtless, natural happening.
No one pures every shot, and the shite I sometimes get away with is staggering. My extreme toe-shots actually draw a bit. I just wish I got the same results with the fairway wood…. I actually went back to the G10 4wood from the G Oh well, who cares? Finally found a used 8. The shaft really made the difference. Sneaky long is right, plus I get tons of roll out. My brother said I better never get rid of this driver and if I do it better be to him. Never under estimate a Ping driver.
That is, until I walk past my buddies by thirty yards down the fairway. I walk to where I think I hit it, then notice my ball much farther down the track. I played 8. Went with the Straighter and at least 20 yards longer. Maybe just the performance score should be posted because My 5th year playing this fine sport and 8 drivers have been in my bag over that time. With the G20 now in my bag, is my stupid spending habbit over?
My longest driver ever, only comparable to the Cleveland Classic, but 10 times more accurate. When a driver is capable of lowering your handicap, you know you have something special.
Great review guys. Just picked up my new G20 driver in 9. Long and straight with great roll out, better than other models and much more consistent that the I 20 too. This is just a great club and I look forward to playing many rounds with it going forward. This, along with the price, put it in my bag. I took it to the driving range today, and in a full bucket, I mis-hit maybe 3 balls..
I very much enjoyed my lunchtime outing to the range. Anyways, it certaininy does not suck. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. But a few weeks ago I got to try out the ping Anser with the Blur shaft and it is the badest driver I have hit.
We have a demo Anser at the local muny here in town were I work at on Sundays. Every time I play I leave my TH at home and play it. Waiting for the Ping G25 to come out in spring of to try it also.
