Who is peter rosenberg

There has been some fuss over the years about drive-time New York radio, at least before the recent commercial resurgence of the city, about Hot 97 and stations like it not having much space for local artists. So first of all, yeah, there is a commercial mandate. I originally got the show in the first place, years ago, for that exact reason. I think Ebro [Darden] , at the time he hired me, thought I could be a useful way to kind of keep Hot 97 in tune with the underground.

But things have changed even more since I came here in The station — and in many ways, mainstream hip-hop itself — has gotten even more commercial and more pop since then. The reasons I got reinvigorated by my show at a point where I was overwhelmed by finding new music?

I think I still feel that way, to be honest with you. Artists would also send me new music and exclusives sometimes; labels would send stuff out. Jump ahead to now, and the audiences already exist, and the artists already seem popular. So for a while, I was just sort of playing new singles by artists I already knew or unpopular cuts from artists who were popular.

And then I started paying attention to what Mark Rosado was doing. Mark has a clothing shop, and these artists were coming by, doing freestyles in his shop. Mark started putting me onto this underground sound, a lot of which lives on my album. I was familiar with the biggest pieces of that underground. I was familiar with Griselda. I was familiar with Roc Marciano. Because it feels impossible, growing up the way we grew up. No, the importance of breaking music on radio has already been diminished.

Radio is the difference. Doja Cat would be a great example. The internet knew Doja Cat. They were all into the cow song. They knew all of her silly internet stuff.

And then Doja Cat gave a radio star. Take it from someone who makes their living talking on the radio. You can feel the impact that you have doing radio. The way things are on the internet right now, the more you say, the more you put yourself at risk of getting someone legitimately upset or making someone angry who simply has it out for you. But yeah, I have two shows. As time has gone on, this skill of doing radio has now become a mix of knowing how to be entertaining and knowing how to keep your job.

I enjoy my job. That skill set required to do WWE really helped me everywhere. You can no longer be as freewheeling as you were. I tend to be somewhat disagreeable with the people that I am in a room with. In that room, for me, naturally, as a broadcaster and a person, the interesting conversation is to sort of push. The group is great for that conversation. I have never asked them.

But it was interesting because Anakin, what he did on it was basically a hook that he repeated endlessly. And it took me a while to listen to it. He just did a lot of shit on it. And the way it was originally given to me was, him doing that endlessly, and then at the way end of it, Nickelus spits his bars.

And I love that, because then you get used to the song after a while and you forget that it was ever different. It makes me super proud, when I listen to it, to even think that I did some of it. Because, like I said, I think it comes off like these guys all did this the way it came across. It was something else. I was going to make a reference to Teo Macero and what he did with Miles Davis albums back in the day.

Because a rapper will come in, spit 37 bars if they want, and then leave. And now you have to figure that out. I just think he bodied it.

Should there be a movie sample? And in the end, I just liked letting it die out. And then the next verse starts. To me, it ended up working, but that was a game every time.

I never knew if Ghost was going to send another line, but my hunch was? Probably not. We talk a lot about the construction of certain songs, but in general, do you have any favorites from the album? Whether it be because of the time it took to put it together, or just the end result and how hard it sounded? I am in love with the intro. Sets the tone. And Skizz, that record just feels like something the second the pianos come in.

He pulled the Sean Price sample. I forgot to even think to use that. So from the very beginning, that record sounds like an intro to me. It started with the drums.

It started with the whole song. I love the Ghostface one. I love that. I thought Jones really came through. I love that he tells sort of a personal story about us on the record. And I got to tell you, I absolutely love the Homeboy Sandman record.

It hits a little too real! Yo, bro. Minaj said that she should not have canceled her performance, but was annoyed at the time due to her lack of familiarity with Rosenberg. A week after appearing on Hot 97, Minaj joined 2 Chainz at Summer Jam , performing two songs with the rapper. Peter Rosenberg Birthday Countdown 0 0 0. Let's check it out!
